Long power cable and umbilical monitoring

Monitoring power cables using fiber optic sensors is ideal for detecting hotpots, which can be investigated at an early stage of their development, helping avoid cable overheat (normally 90 degrees C).
Using fiber optic sensing, cable temperature is monitored along its length and continuously, so its temperature under different load conditions can be established, enabling the operator to optimize the cable’s performance, within safe limits.
